Day 1-Seattle -Calgary-Banff

The fun begins as we fly from Seattle to Calgary. Upon arrival, Depart and breathe in the fresh mountain air as we drive to Banff National Park. See the highlights of Banff -Bow Falls, Tunnel Mountain and Surprise Corner. The afternoon is at leisure to shop, play a round of golf or opt for a gondola ride to the top of 7,500 foot Sulphur Mountain. Meals are on your own.

Day 2-Banff-Icefields Parkway-Jasper

Today travel one of the world's most awe-inspiring highways-the Icefields Parkway to Japser. Spectacular snowdomed peaks, water-falls, lakes and wildlife compete for your attention. Visit Bow Lake, Crowfoot Glacier, and the Mistaya Valley. Stop near the gigantic Athatbasca Glacier and experience the thrill of a snow coach ride on this behemouth of ice before continuing the journey north past thundering Athabasca Falls to Jasper. (B)

Day 3-Jasper-VIA Rail to Prince George

Enjoy a leisurely morning to explore Jasper before boarding the train for a two-day journey from the rugged splendour of Jasper National Park and the Canadian Rockies to the haunting beauty of the Pacific Coast. Leaving from Jasper, the train cuts across the Rockies among majestic mountains and immense forests, arriving in Prince Rupert on the Pacific coast. You'll have front row seats! Boxed meals and snacks will be provided onboard. This evening, the train rolls to a stop and we'll disembark in Prince George for an overnight stay. (B, L, D)

Day 4-Prince George-Train to Prince Rupert

Board the train this morning for another spectacular trip. Lean in closer to the panoramic windows to better take in the settlements, farms and sawmills dotting a landscape defined by mountains, lakes and forests. Tranquility settles over you like a warm blanket as the train-and the beauty-takes you further and further away from your daily life. Box meals and snacks will be provided onboard. This evening, we'll check into our comfortable hotel. (B, L, D)

Day 5-Prince Rupert-Grizzlies!-Inside Passage

One of the best tours of your life begins as we depart for Khutzeymateen, "The Valley of the Grizzlies". As we travel north through Chatham Sound, you'll hear fascinating stories about the historic native villages. Along the way, watch for porpoises, seals, sea lions, bald eagles and blue herons as you learn first-hand about this diverse marine environment. Upon arrival, we will enter the rugged coastal mountains and pristine wilderness of the Khutzeymateen Valley, home to one of the highest concentrations of grizzly bears in North America. You'll be spellbound, watching grizzlies interacting in their natural environment. (B, L)

Day 6-Ketchikan

Wake up early this morning for a gorgeous cruise on the Alaska State Ferry to Ketchikan. We will cruise through Dixon entrance past Misty Fjords and up Revillagigedo Channel. We arrive in Ketchikan early so you will have time to explore this great Alaskan town. Ketchikan's waterfront boardwalk and timber houses have an unforgettable frontier setting. Salmon spawn in the creek waters, anglers throw in a line and kayakers paddle the narrows-and all without leaving Ketchikan's main street. Later, we will check into our hotel for the next two nights. (B)

Day 7-Ketchikan-Misty Fjords Cruise

Today cruise to the heart of Misty Fjords National Monument. A naturalist will provide in-depth commentary on the area as you cruise past a mysterious Native pictograph, Punchbowl Cove with its columnar basalt formations, and the colorful Mossy Wall bird rookery. Enjoy the dramatic landmark New Eddystone Rock, an ancient volcanic plug that juts up 237 feet from the water. Watch for mountain goats, bears, eagles, guillemots and other seabirds. You will be surrounded by cliffs towering thousands of feet and view waterfalls cascading into emerald waters. (B, S)

Day 8-Ketchikan-fly to Seattle

Enjoy a leisurely morning and time to see more of the town before we head to the airport for a quick flight home. Upon arrival, our shuttle service will return you to your home in the Seattle area. (B)
